Hi, I want to ask everybody,if there is a big difference in result between standart and personal brushes. And if so, put some examples here.
I think it would be nice to share these experiences, since you can get more from your software by making your own brushes!!!
From another topic of this site, people complained about the lack of explanation of the brushes that dusso uses in photoshop. So, if you know something about the brushes the pros uses, put it here!!!
Thanks!!!
Some people work in Painter also :) here's a guy.. not very well known ;) who is posting his brushes

Hey first post on this new site,
i've been looking for a place like this for ages. The guys in work showed it to me as they know all I do is wacom my life away in Photoshop.
I'd like to share a link, www.pocketmole.com (http://www.pocketmole.com)
Katherine has a new site but has a link to old tutorials including brush ideas. I don't use very many of my own custom brushes.
When I have time i'll post my grass and rock brushes.
Plus my soft cloud highlight special brush.
My processor is very slow, so anything but the basics are out.
My computer in work is fast mind, I could use my brushes on that?!
I work in the same building as wacom europe, so i'm going to steal the new wacom3 a4 from them.
Hi,
One of the links in dg's post is broken. Here's the updated link:

I don't really have a lot of custom brushes. When PS 7 was released,
I played around with the brushes palette. I did this illustration of my
friend Paul, just trying to use as many of the brushes as I could. Mostly,
I just use the standard brushes, but changing the different properties
(size, opacity etc.) as I go. It isn't very often that I need to create a
custom "footprint".

personally I pretty much use the brushes out of the box.. I dont really see a reason to need much else. just changing the softness, opacity, transfer mode, and occasionaly the spacing. I do have a couple brushes up that are irregular shapes for when I want stray lines or just to work a little looser.
nice pic rrische
reminds me a bit of the sketches travis charest used to do on toned paper.

In the Digital Producer, there are a lot a excellent brushes to download by Nagel. They are juste FANTASTIC. Have a look!

I find that the secret to a good PS brush all lies in the brush pallete and a wacom pad (or Aiptek).
You have to play around with painting first to figure out what your preferrences are for achieving a painterly feel. Then create a brush that enhances your feel for the wacom pads sensitivity by adjusting the scattering, hardness, etc.
I usually have the flow set fairly low with the airbrush option on. You don't want to lay color down like in the windows paint program. Also don't forget to play with the layering mode while painting on other layers.

I wish there was a way to rotate my brush, I think it would be way easier to avoid repeating patterns if you could just touch two buttons and change the angle of the brush.
In Photoshop you can set the angle to change depending on the angle you hold your pen, the direction you draw in, the pressure you apply and at random (and probably in other ways as well)
it's under shape dynamics in the brushes window.
Does anyone have a direct link to some photoshop brushes? I'm hoping to find a few good ones, as I have never really been happy with my attempts at creating them from scratch!
