I´ve been trying to paint some nice mountains but it all ends up looking like crap, i tend to end up with to long soft shapes and the rock doesn´t look either hard or big, the contours is never a problem and i guess alot of the very final detailing can be done with overlays etc.

Any tips or process pics would be appretiated

howdy, What software are you using? it doesn't really matter but I have different techniques for painter/photoshop. In painter I take advantage of the pallet knife load it first with both darker fg/bf than I go to a light fg and dark bg colour I kinda do it bob ross style put a happy little mountain here and one there, oh don't they look happe in their homes... In photoshop I would start with a dark layer that defines the general shape of the mountains and then paint on a screen layer with shape dynamics on to give them 3d forms. hope this helps
ps sorry for my bad text bob ross impression.
