Here all the work I did on Tethered Island, the new exciting project of Aaron Sims!
It's been an inspiring project, with several environments to design, each one really unique and challenging. Mining planets, alien forests, and space scenes. And I loved the fact that i could really spend some time on these and flesh them out to a pretty photo real level. It's great when I can use my matte painting skills for concept work.

Description:

The Matte Painter will be responsible for painting photo environments, elements and textures for matching into live action plates or could stand as their own matte painting plates. Candidates must also have a sound knowledge and understanding of visual effects pipelines, production and implementation, as well as the ability to work well in a team. Knowledge of Vue, Nuke and Maya are a plus.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years VFX industry experience as a digital matte painter in a LIVE ACTION feature film, tv or commercials environment
• Expert working knowledge of Photoshop is a must
• Experience with 3D Maya software and strong compositing and 3D projection skills in Nuke an asset
• Experience creating digital paintings of photo realistic environments based on concept art and/or photo reference
• Possess a strong understanding of light, colour and perspective
Possess excellent artistic communication skills as well as an excellent eye for detail
• Sound knowledge and understanding of VFX pipelines, production and implementation, as well as the ability to work well in a team
• A good understanding of 2D and 3D workflows within a feature film environment
• Knowledge of Vue software a plus

Must be willing to relocate to Vancouver.

This is a paid gig and requires two sets; a night version and day version.

Essentially we're shooting a cubicle office scene in a sea of cubicles with no sea of cubicles. Not very exciting but necessary.
