New from Wacom (drool)

A wacom enabled ink pen that will record your pen strokes and give you a vector based out put of any drawings that you put in your sketchbook. Wacom was even thoughtful enough to put a "new layer" button on the receiver. I already am trying to adjust my budget for one!

Looks awesome. Not for me,but certainly practical for professional designers.

This is an awesome piece of tech, and Wacom certainly know how to design sexy looking products. I'm not entirely sure how useful this will be for that many people though. For me, the beauty of working in traditional over digital is the ability to throw anything at a sketch - pens, pencil, markers, paints... pretty much any medium can be mixed and matched to achieve the result you are after. Limiting me to just one pen seems to suddenly take the funcionality back that of previous wacoms (although you do get the benefit of direct coordination between sketch and the tablet that was only previously afforded to the Cintiq). I'm guessing there will be some people out there who will love this, but for poeple who like traditional sketching because of its freedom with different media, I think they will find this limiting...

My 2 cents :)

I see what you mean Nick, for me its mainly the idea that if I am away from my desk and I have an idea I can jot it down real quickly. I own and Intuos and a Cintiq and for things like story boards and initial designs I goto paper more often because it gets my brain think less about what I am using more about what I am trying to convey in the drawing. For alot of people who are like me this is a Godsend.
