Looking dramatic Dmitriy, I like that bridge you are creating and what's light doing underneath. Strong highlights behind it work well. This is one of the better works so far in the competition in my opinion. GL

Hi Dmitriy,

I like what you have done with those ghostly trails on the top layer of the clouds. It gives a real sense of an alien atmosphere.

Although I did comment on Bryan Sola image I should not be taken very seriously because I am hardly an expert in the matter and I do not want to give advice against what the judges might find good.

So, the only thing I can say is get to youtube and watch footage of space missions. Also try to find the footage from Avatar and Prometheus when the spaceship drops into the atmosphere because I am certain that they will want something similar to those shots.

To me, most images convey a nebula in space rather than a planets atmosphere. Atmospheres have layers of different temperatures and pressures, thus different types of clouds appear at each layer. The only type that reaches the most layers are cumulonimbus clouds which are responsible for thunderstorms.

Of course there is always the artistic freedom to create things. Specially if these have never been seen by most people or if they are not used to see. Artistic freedom allows us to make anything we like even if it's not physically possible.

I decided not to participate in this contest because I didn't have the time right now, but if I did my approach would have been:

- arc horizon line, typical of higher plane shots.
- no stars
- planet softly covered by perspective haze leaving only the right edge visible
- large area of clouds but with small in proportion details
- dark and low light illumination of the cloud layer

and finally lighting and grading to match the contest request.

Again... who am I to say anything... I just did because you asked me to.

Good luck my friend. Cheers!

Thank you, Ricardo.

I've got a good coment to fix some mistakes.

Thank you one more time.

Dmitriy.
