Here is one inspired by London living and the coming of winter.
Hope you like it.
There's some great lighting here, but it's too 'graphical' to look like a photo-real scene - there's too many lines EXACTLY parallel to the frame of the image for it to read as anything but a flat cutout.
I'd love to see another version from a more interesting angle, keeping the beautiful lighting and atmosphere. It'll probably involve a bit of a struggle with perspective (a basic 3D scene, even in sketchUp could help), but it would be a massive step forward.
thanks for your time and appreciation!
The fact that you find the graphical look and the orthogonal nature of the painting is significant. My approach at the start was, in fact, completely perspective-less.
The perspective elements were forced in only towards the 65% mark, where I realised I couldn't introduce lighting without depth, or at least without making it look 100% graphical.
My drawing skills in themselves are limited, so are my shading and rendering skills. This is it evolved into a more stylized and less photo-real piece, which turns out I quite like in any case :)
I'm not sure I would make a less head on perspective justice, but I'd be curious to see what someone more experienced and skilled might come up with (=explicit invitation to do so).
I'm very new to this and looking to improve.
Here is a link to a couple of wip iterations:
