Just playing around with my first painting. Figured a day to night was a good exercise. Just a quick question about the far background of the painting though. In the day shots I see, the distant backgrounds are kept fairly light to follow traditional painting rules to show depth. When turning my shot into a night version does this still hold true? The moon is not visible in shot and the angle is a kind of 3/4 birds eye view. Would it be better to have the image gradually fade out to black or near black as it leaves the city? a) Because there is less man-made light and b) the horizon line is not visible so the sky is not in the shot.
Thanks Homer, yea that does look more aesthetically (sp?) pleasing. Hopefully will have my specific painting uploaded somewhere next week so people can see what I mean (and critique the rest!) :)
