Default The tower of Cirith Ungol - 11-03-2010, 06:06 AM

Hello all,
this is my wip of making matte painting for challenge about LOTR.
I saw that there have their nice works Thyn and Sensei.
It's my second MP challenge, hope you like this piece.

I chose The tower of Cirith Ungol as a watchtower od Mordor.
Top of the tower will appear after a few seconds of video when the camera will move up (I'll upload detail).

Still lot to do on this piece.. tie rocks together, shadows, colors..

I would be glad for comments, feelings or critics.
Thank you for watching.

It is a great beginning, the one factor that becomes a must is finding and establishing your light source and make sure all your elements have both proper keylights, bounce lighting, and fills. Your shadows are going in all directions. The scale of the castle is a bit large, you can create greater depth if you are able to adjust your scale to the proper proportions against the mountains in the background. Very nice concept, I like how you worked through the idea and came up with a solid concept. One other point that I could recommend is Atmospheric perspective is one of a Matte painters greatest assets to create a sense of realism and depth.
