cthunig thanks for novel!! whenever i ask someone about living in soho/london they just say "yea its great!! ect. ect." its nice to hear that the film industry is good over there. The only way i can deal with high living cost is if I get a job I guess, but that does not really bother me because I live on very little money as it is right now being in college in all!

P.Nagle, yup- i believe it's tough here without a steady job, though i do know some people who get by quiet well despite longer gaps between projects. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that you need to starve if you work in vfx here, i simply reckon that with the insane rents and all there's a little less left at the end of the month than in, let's say, Wellington or whatever. sounds like you're prepared anyway. :-) where are you studying?

I am currently studying at the art institute international of minneasota....which is probley one of the least vfx oriented states in the whole country!

My goal when i am done with school is to be at a level where I can get a junior matte artist or compositor position(preferably as a matte artist), but I will take whatever I can get!

Sounds good, you do your thing. I don't think the orientation of the school will matter much on your resume later.

I visited Minneapolis and St. Paul in '95, it's quiet an interesting place. First time I had ever seen the Mississippi, that was quiet something.

Ya the Mississippi is pretty cool the frist time you see it! I am planning on doing a period shot of minneapolis along the river around 1900 some time here i just have to compile reference photos! It should be fun though.
