Default bridge of enlightenment - 05-10-2008, 02:35 PM

this matte is actually over a year old. i did it as a practise for myself right after i got out of school. the final shot had people crossing the bridge and some 3D snow particles composited in as it starts snowing in the scene. hope you like it. i've got a little qt of it here: http://proconpictures.com/video/_procon ... bridge.mov
and somewhat of a breakdown over at my site on my 2007 reel.

you really dont care too much about cloud movement and dynamic light, don't you? Both in this and the one posted on cgtalk...

I think this matte looks nice, and i really like the light particle sim in the shot. Some cloud movement would help sell the shot some more.
However, i think in future paintings, try to come up with an idea that will be more convincing and believable from the start. I think you did a good job with this, but the idea is very far-fetched before you start, and the structure doesn't seem as though it would stand well there.

Keep it up

Nick

Now that's some helpful crits. Thanks. Appreciate it.
And yeah, I think this is about the last shot I've done without a cam move...

nice. some other small things that may help:
the blacks might be a touch deep, adding a bit more atmosphere might help seat it more. also, difficult to tell without seeing the hires image, but, it may be a bit too sharp compared to the plate, so a bit of blur, or at least edge blur. maybe some plate wrap wouldn't hurt either, and (subtle) blooming on the hilights. in short, a little more feeling of light moving through atmosphere.

This is a very nice work!
I think if you ad a camera movement from left-bottom to right-up (focus on the temple) you should give a living sense on the scene...
Good job!
