Default Flat matte paintings? - 09-29-2007, 11:50 PM

hi there everyone. i was wondering if there were some people that could help me with a problem of mine. i have been creating matte paintings for over a couple months now. but i cant figure out how to make my paintings not look so flat and more importantly look fake. meaning just looking like a still image. I've been using hi res reference but it doesn't seem like thats working either. so here is my question. how must i go about in the creation of my paintings to make them look more interactive (look like you can wander through it)? and where can i find very hi res images. I'm trying to create a jungle matte painting. what images could i look up? not just jungle in general but maybe more specific locations. anyone know of any that are of great reference? i could really use all the help i can get. thanks.
