Default Some Painting Tips - 09-28-2004, 05:44 PM

Ryan Church has a Q&A page on his web site.
It's worth checking it out. He is a concept artists and he has worked on
star wars movies and he has made some DVDs with Gnomon.
I'm a big fan of his work. Check it out!

Default Ryan Church DVDs - 09-28-2004, 09:08 PM

Thanks for the information, but I was wondering if Ryan Church's DVD's were available in the UK (region 2)? Or any other DVD's that would be handy for learning Matte Painting techniques. Cheers Alasdair

alasdair-m ,

I'm not sure. But you can contact The Gnomon Workshop and ask them.
Here is their site:

I think that the DVDs are made to play back on computer and not home DVD players (so you cant watch them from the sofa)and therefore are not region specific.

Hi there,

I studied in Januari at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects, and its amazing.

The DVD's of the Gnomon Workshop are Region free, so every country can watch them... and they are not specially made for your computer but also for on the sofa :) You can see that by looking at the structure of the DVD. :)

Greetz,
Mdalaran

Yeah I can confirm that. The DVD's are region free and the ones that I have bought have worked fine - I even had my five year old son sat watching the James Clyne one with me one time, though he was a bit perturbed that "the man keeps coughing".

Ryan's stuff is great! But I would seriouly recommend the volume 2 of the dusso dvds. It will really help with matte painting. I found the first dvd a little slow.
