Default Racing Stripes matte painting - 02-19-2005, 12:21 PM

Here is one of the matte paintings I did for Racing Stripes. Lots of the racetrack shots had to be modified, because the establishing shot showed the whole track high angle down from a hill and was pretty much a full matte painting. Except for the rail in the foreground, which I copied and pasted to extend it, the rest of the picture is made up. I didn't have any pics with the tents from an usable angle and with acceptable lighting, so, given the simplicity of the structures, painting them directly was easier and faster. Also, there was a slight motion blur (not shown here), which allowed me to get a little sloppy and impressionistic.

pics below are: painting, plate, close-up

commissioned by Christov Effects and Design, Inc.

very good, looks simple in the details, but the effect on the end is great! nice one.
