I really love seeing miniatures in a painting. Nice model. Great work!

Default thanks - 05-17-2010, 05:45 PM

Thanks.-
I'm creating another one now that's turning out to be a bit more work than I expected, but the final painting will be worth all the effort.
Influenced by Ray Harryhausen and old MGM epics.

Yeah, loving the miniatures, you dont see that much any more. Would love to see a construction video if you ever have the means to make one, ive always been interested in miniature building.

Default practical elements - 06-03-2011, 01:00 AM

Thanks Nick,

Sounds like a great idea - I'm suprised anyone would be interested.
Constructing the cave entrance only took about 8 hours,( less if I didn't have to wait for glue to dry) and I have the exact elements I need for the shot. I can photograph it from different angles and in different lighting situations.
I even reused parts for the painting in this post-
http://www.mattepainting.org/vb/showthread.php?t=7128
along with some other miniatures I constucted.
One tip-a lot of these miniature construction techniques were learned from various model-railroad magazines and books...
