Hey Guys,
i posted my first matte painting a few weeks ago and have got some good ideas and critics. now i found time to build the matte a lil bit more. i tried to make a lake behind the city, but i think something is wrong with the perspective. maybe some more critics or suggestions would help me out. i wanna improve my knowledge and skills.
i like the idea as it is (and reminds me on bioshok trailers) but
it looks to pasted perspective is off
to start matte painting, the best to start with 'd be simple set extensions, or new/old moods... maybe some simple landscapes - i know its hard so start with simple things because results might be boring, and seeing the great works posted here in the Mp pro gallery.. but thats not about..
ofc this looks like done in 1 - 2 hours you shoulda take some time, at least matte painting is a thing to learn over years. (im still shit in it compared to some other guys here)
it also looks like you took a mountain from here
and then from there and anotherwhere, it should fit optical sticking it together.
I'd start with sketching first to bring the idea out, then the colour palette, and when it comes to composing search some good photo references to work with.
Care about perspective because if it doesnt fit, the final image will never look perfect or supergorgeous.
thx for the fast answer. . . . im a bit depressive :) because i´ve done this in about 10 hours at all. . :) and it looks like 1-2 :(
but i will exercise more and more. thx for suggestions . . . maybe i should really start doing boring paintings first. but i dont want to through this one in the trash. so what i can improve in this one? im sure there are some perspective problems . . but i cant figure out where they are . . and how to correct the colors?
Im sry, Im not so familiar the forum stuff. I didnt knew that my topic would be on top again. and it was a few weeks/months ago i wrote it. thought no one would read it. ill post it all in one next time.
