I don't actually have sound working on my machine at work, so I review showreels in silence. It's pretty common. Always a good idea to get to the good stuff as quickly as possible, too. Long intro sequences are often a sign of a bad reel (and this isn't one), so probably not a good idea to throw up a warning sign as a first impression.

Kudos for taking advice on board so quickly, even when it meant throwing away a lot of hard work.

@ Ricardo

Thanks mate. I appreciate nice words. I checked out your paintings, the Mountain Rescue is really cool! No wonder it got included in the Ballistic as well as the other work you got there on your site.

@ Nick

It is hard to take criticism , true. I learned it quite a while ago and I think this is essential for any artist to be able to take it while being a part of the production team. I'm sure we all have trouble with this at the start of our creative careers.
As per your suggestion for the opening - I thought having not enough time to really focus on the pieces would create sort of anticipation of what's coming later on. I don't want to give away everything at the start. Apparently most of the producers turn off the reels after 15sec if there is nothing to interest or impress them. I respect your option though and thank you again.

@ Alex

Glad to have experienced artists like you to comment on my work. Thanks

I just found a reel online that is a good example of a great professional reel. Notice that the contact details are very clear and the beginning and end, and there are no fancy effects going on, just letting the work make an impression.
Your new version isn't too far away from this, and of course there is always room for some originality and creatively (we are artists after all) but just thought I would leave this here as an example as sometimes professional reels can be harder to come by...

@ Lukas and MedFaska, thanks guys :)

@Nick. Yes that looks great. Let's say I need few more projects to get to that level :) They definitely don't need any editing tricks hehe It is work of a huge team though, isn't it? Cheers for posting that

Right now probably this whole thread will lose its meaning as I took the criticism on board and replaced the original reel all together. Kept it simple and added gentle , non distracting music. Glad to be able to get feedback from you guys and hope to see you on the MPC competition!
